So, how do I go about starting therapy?
If you think you’d like to work together, please schedule a phone consultation with me at (714) 321-1521. Texting is the best way to get in touch.
We can then have a short chat to see if I am a good fit for you, and if I am, we can find a time for your weekly therapy session. I will then send you paperwork to complete online before our first session. If I am not a good fit for you, I will do my best to offer you a referral. I know finding a therapist can be tough!
How would therapy work for my teen?
If you’d like your teen to work with me, please schedule a phone consultation at (714) 321-1521. I also encourage you to show my website to your teen so they can feel a part of the process.
We would then have a short phone call to see if I am a good fit for your teen overall and whether I can meet your family’s needs. Next, we would find a time for your teen to see me weekly, and it will also be important for us to schedule a weekly parent session for you.
I can explain all of this further on the call. If I cannot meet your family’s needs, I will do my best to provide appropriate teen-friendly resources for you to follow up with.
How much do your sessions cost?
Do you accept insurance?
Do you ever offer virtual therapy?
Yes! I embrace the fact there are multiple reasons people prefer their therapy sessions online. I use a secure online portal where you can still have your session from a laptop or even your smartphone. You can have therapy only online or use online as a backup, so you don’t have to miss a session if you can’t make it in person for one week.
For my patients in Florida, I am happy to accommodate the time zone change to facilitate your virtual therapy session.
If you prefer your sessions in person, I have an office in Orange County, California. We can make arrangements for in-person sessions if the location and my available times are convenient for you.

Does virtual therapy work?
Yes! No one was more skeptical than me when the pandemic required all therapy sessions to be conducted virtually. But I quickly became a believer.
Since March 2020, I have conducted most of my sessions virtually. I can confidently state the work patients did in their virtual therapy brought the same positive results that I previously thought were only possible with in-person sessions.
What if I cannot convince my teen/young adult child to participate in therapy?
It’s not uncommon for people to be reluctant to participate in therapy. I have an excellent track record of converting the reluctant potential patient into a willing participant in their therapy.
There is a good chance that will happen during our 15-minute free consultation. But if your child is truly refusing to participate, please know that your participation alone can make a huge difference in your relationship and their behavior. In some cases, changes in the parents’ attitude and behavior alone create a significant improvement.
Will you tell my parents everything I say?
Absolutely not! I will only share things with your parents that you have given me consent to share. You will always know in advance and be in full agreement about the things I discuss with your parents.
The one exception is if you are in immediate danger of harming yourself or harming someone else. In that case, I would reach out to your parents to make sure you get the support you need in this moment of crisis. This law applies to everyone in therapy, regardless of their age.
Can I ask you personal questions?
You can ask me personal questions. My primary goal is to keep your therapy sessions focused on and all about YOU because I know how much I like MY therapy sessions to be all about ME! (See what I did there… now you know I also go to therapy.)
That said, I am comfortable responding to your questions about me and then circling right back to YOU.
Big dogs or little dogs?

This is Tootsie, “my failed therapy dog” – failed because she thinks everything is about HER!

I have a soft spot in my heart for German Shepherds, and volunteering for a GSD rescue was one of my favorite things of all time.
